Kristina Eljaiek a.k.a. "Special K"
Introduction to “Special K!”
“Why have you chosen to write a Fashion Column for Miami Art Blog?”
“I enjoy Art and I think that Fashion can be expressed as another form of Art where everyone can get creative.”
“Where did you study Fashion?”
“Florida International University in Miami where I took part in their Retail and Apparel Studies Program.”
“‘What advice would you offer any Fashion students wanting to gain experience before they set out to apply for jobs at Fashion Retailers?”
“I think it’s really important to be a Sales Associate or in Management and to have experience on both sides of the business gaining knowledge representing a retailer, so the consumer can be appreciated. This is why I highly recommend doing an internship while in a Fashion program.”
“Did you participate in an Internship Program?”
“Yes, I did an intership with Macy’s and was directly hired from that point onward as an Assistant Buyer in their Shoe Buying Department.”
“What was your course of study while at Florida International University?”
“Fashion Merchandising/Retail and Apparel Management.”
“What would you say is the hottest spring/summer trend”?
” This season it’s all about color!  Color can be incorporated into your wardrobe wearing colorful/bold prints (florals are big this season). If you want to take a more subtle approach,  you can jazz up any outfit with colorful accessories, or just by by stepping out in a colorful pair of ornamental sandals. (here we can leave the links for Kate Spade & Neiman Marcus). Whatever you choose to wear this season, adding some color to your wardrobe goes a long way.  It’s all about having fun with your personal sense of style, and color is right on trend & definitely gets you noticed!”
